Engagement Sessions

Kelsey and Lucas met their freshman year at UNC in Chapel Hill. So of course it was fitting to shoot their engagement session on the campus. We shot the last image and made it under cover, right before getting caught in a torrential rainstorm, what luck! I really enjoyed hearing the stories of some of the landmarks on campus. Kelsey and Lucas kissed under the "Davie Poplar tree", under which the university's founder supposedly selected the location for the university. The legend of the Davie Poplar says that if the tree falls, so will UNC. It is actually being held up with wire because the tree is in ill health, (the school was founded in 1795)!. The couples wedding takes place at the end of October so check back for those images soon.

The Old Well is another UNC landmark. The artist used the Temple of Love in the garden of Versailles for inspiration.

Go HEELS!!

Personal

My sister, Anna, surprised me this week with a visit! She lives in Naples, FL and just finished her pre-med studies. Of course she is so modest, she told us not to come to her graduation because it would be too long. Turns out she was valedictorian of her class and pretty much aced the MCATs, (medical college admission test). Her teachers wanted her to go to Harvard, but she wants to be a naturopathic doctor, (a ND instead of MD). In NC most people have never heard of a ND. Basically, it requires the same amount of schooling, except you learn about prevention and natural healing, as opposed to healing people who are already sick, or just giving them medicine to mask the symptoms.

I call my sis Doogie Howser, it is amazing the knowlege she has. When I called her to let her know I was pregnant, she knew every single thing about pregnancy and newborns. I have no idea how I would have made it through without her knowledge and support!! I love my sister, can you tell?

Anyhow, she came a few days ago with a surprise visit and we decided to take Eli on a hike. I wanted to share the picts. we took, just because the last photos I posted of him were his newborn images. A few more to be posted soon! :)

My beautiful sister.

Weddings

This past April marks my 3rd year anniversary of working with Abigail. Hard to believe, time files! I had the pleasure of photographing Melinda and Ben's wedding, and Abigail was the second photographer. It was just like old times, when we always shot together. Displayed below are some of my photographs from the wedding. Melinda and Ben were married on August 16th in Chapel Hill, NC.

Melinda and Ben wrote each other letters to read before the ceremony:

Details, the dress and the rings!

Getting ready

Melinda and her dad, getting ready to walk into the sanctuary.

This is not posed, cool huh?

lots of kissing, for some reason I love the kissing shots:).

Brightly colored flowers and gold bridesmaids dresses.

Melinda and Ben practiced their first dance while the guests were enjoying cocktail hour before the reception.

Ben's sister put together a slideshow of both Melinda and Ben growing up, with their families, and then all of the years that they dated. The couple was deeply touched, I felt the love in the room!

Melinda's sister gave a speech reminiscing about their childhood. Like any good sister, she added some embarrassing moments.

Goodnight, yet another kiss, sorry. Well, they are in LOVE!

Bridal Portraits

I photographed Melinda's wedding on August 16th of this year at The Carolina Inn. We thought the Inn would also be a great place for her bridal portrait session. Melinda chose the Old Well Room for her reception site (the room with the black and white floor and the chandeliers in the photo below). Once the room was decorated for the reception, it was just stunning, complete with candles and brightly colored flowers.
