Solution to The Energy Crisis
Meet Grayson, affectionately known as "G," a five-year old powerhouse of a kid who can leap tall buildings in a single bound. OK, maybe not exactly, but if we could harness the joy and vivaciousness he exudes, we'd never pay Duke Power another cent. Love this kid -- he was all about salamanders, frogs, dirt and his dog. He practically walked out of the pages of a Mark Twain story. The image of G with Oscar Meyer (the dog) below is another in my ongoing series of pets being loved but helplessly overwhelmed by babies and kids. Enjoy!

Angelo and Angelina
The cuteness factor is way off the charts here, be prepared -- this adorable brother and sister came out and frolicked around in the pumpkins recently, and couldn't have been sweeter. They were even sweet to each other, which is amazing for toddlers. The only downside was that poor Angelo got stung by a yellow jacket just as we were finishing up. He was very brave about it (me, not so much), and Angelina took the whole thing in stride. I like the hug-that's-almost-too-tight shot below, since I have seen that moment around our house plenty of times.

Thanks, Jeannie, for letting me photograph your beautiful children!

Baby Adelaide
Another absolutely charming and gorgeous 9-month old baby, the daughter of Craig and Beau. You would never know that it was the dreariest morning we'd had around here in awhile -- Adelaide's sunny disposition filters out everything else. We had fun dressing her in different outfits, but she seemed perfectly content to scoot around the house in her skivvies. She does this funny little move where she turns onto her side and balances perfectly, like Jane Fonda doing leg lifts!

We had fun putting her in an antique pram, just like the one her own mom was wheeled around in when she was a baby:

Here's Adelaide with her grandma, both just as happy as can be:

Stock market got you down? Just hang out here with Adelaide, she'll cheer you up. :)

Ginny & Mark Are Engaged
When I originally envisioned the engagement session for this wonderful pair, whose wedding is next May, I somehow had in my mind a gritty downtown cityscape in Winston-Salem. Yet when I read their love story and talked to them a bit more, it was clear that wasn't "them" at all. They wisely suggested the cobbled streets and picket fences of Old Salem, and the whole time we were together I kept thinking about how much they reminded me of George and Emily from Thornton Wilder's "Our Town". They are constantly cracking each other up when they aren't kissing, which in my humble opinion is a pretty good description of the two key things that keep love alive.
