03.29.10  |  Workshops
Same Camera, Same Photographer
We hosted our second SHUTTERBABES workshop for beginner photographers last weekend and it was just as much fun as the first! Below are some fresh images from recent students, showing what they shot with the same camera before they took the workshop, and afterward. Simple adjustments can make a world of difference.

Scroll on for photos from the most recent workshop...

Our good friends Sarah and Jordan of SADIE HIGS PHOTOGRAPHY were kind enough to bring their sweet baby, Nolan, to be one of our models. Despite the harsh sunlight of early morning March (pretty much the hardest light to practice shooting in), we managed to find some shady spots. Our twenty participants were shooting with either Nikon D40s or Canon Rebels, so I shot with my Rebel (I normally shoot with a 5D), and a 28mm lens.

Nolan, the child of two photographers, was an incredibly patient model (he has lots of experience, natch). He did still give me a little of the hairy eyeball as he warmed up to me.

1.8 aperture = YUM

Seriously, is this not the most adorable, impish, mischievous grin you've ever seen??

Here is one of our other models, Campbell, who was also patient and calm in the face of so many cameras (a natural star in the making, perhaps?)

Thanks to everyone who participated, and for anyone keeping tabs, I will be confirming the date for our ShutterPROS workshop in May shortly. Be sure that you are signed up for our newsletter, where I'll be announcing it first.

Tinyprints and Wedding Paper Divas
Some fun news: a number of our images have been chosen as the sample shots on both Wedding Paper Divas and Tiny Prints. Many thanks to our wonderful clients for being so photogenic!

We are now listed on both sites' "Favorite Photographers" pages. Whoo-hoo!

Dog Loves Baby
I LOVE this family, having photographed Baby "H"'s big brother when he was the same age, and the day after this shoot his mama was an attendee at SHUTTERBABES, which was a blast (more on that soon).

Anyway, I just love his happy spirit and beautiful blue eyes. And I love his dog.

Biltmore Wedding Part II: First Sight
Some more of Vicky and Kevin's wedding at the Biltmore, starting off with this wonderful image by Traci, who captured that great connection between a bride and her maid of honor.

These were pinned to the folds of Vicky's dress:

Vicky and Kevin decided to see each other beforehand (highly recommended for lowering stress and making time for photos beforehand), and I am always a sucker for these moments. I can never keep from getting choked up as I'm shooting, and this time was no different:

Biltmore Wedding Part I: Film Shots
After ALMOST selling my Canon EOS3 film camera many times, I decided to dust it off last weekend after not having used it in almost five years. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE digital and always will, but there's something kind of vinyl-record-ish about going analog again. I only shot two rolls at Vicky and Kevin's wedding, all of it during the getting-ready chapter. It was fun, and I'm planning on increasing my percentage of film shots each wedding.

Anyway, the wedding itself was a pure delight, and I'll be posting more images in a few days. In the meantime, just wanted to share a few faves that I just got back from the lab:
