style me happy
The only way I can explain how huge a deal this was to me is this: do you remember that feeling in high school (or maybe last week!) when you REALLY wanted the popular kids to like you -- you know, the ones who always looked perfect and wore the coolest clothes and always had somewhere to go? Well, I've been wanting the { Style Me Pretty } gals to invite me to their lunch table in the cafeteria for a long time (any of you who are obsessed with weddings knows what I'm talking about).
So it was a huge honor when they accepted { Callie's wedding } and ran it this past Monday. **Side note: When I got the acceptance notification email I started jumping up and down and shrieking, and Lila Mae and Joaquin shouted "Can we come with you??" What a great way to look at excitement -- as a place that we can bring each other along. :) The kids were, however, disappointed when I explained that there was no candy and/or amusement park rides involved.**
P.S. I just found out that I've been invited to be a member of SMP's { Little Black Book }, too. What a week!!!

engaged: melissa + walter
As you can imagine, I develop a crush on every couple I photograph, and Melissa and Walter are particularly crush-worthy. First of all, Melissa just got her Master's in photography from UNCG, so that's a crush right there. And she has the most amazing eyebrows! She and Walter are soul-connected, which is something you just can't hide (or fake). We did a last-minute engagement session (as in a week ago) for their wedding coming up on Saturday.
A couple of "behind the scenes" notes:
But I digress. Instead, prepare to develop your own crush:
A couple of "behind the scenes" notes:
- I'm not always a fan of using cameras as props (they're getting a little overused and cutesy), but in this case it's legit because Melissa actually knows how to use the camera she's holding.
- The quilt in the shoot was made by her great-great grandmother.
- Her { adorable dress } is by Anthropologie, and she bought it just before the shoot from our local store, which happens to run by another { bride } familiar to blog-readers!
- I'm not always big on using textures (another post-processing gee-gaw that I fear will go the route of selective color in years hence), but I really love the ones made by { Totally Rad Actions }. I used one called "Ginger Savannah" on the last shot in this series. The textures have a great name, too: { "Dirty Pictures" }
But I digress. Instead, prepare to develop your own crush:

vintage texas wedding: callie + cason
OK, so Texas is a little bit outside of my recently self-imposed 60-mile shooting radius, but when Callie called me last year about her wedding, she had me at "front porch ceremony," and "sweet-tea cocktails in Mason jars," so there was no way I could miss it!
She had so many personal touches, from her bouquet wrapped in the lace from her mom's wedding hat, her grandmother's garter from the 1950s, and her program/fans made on Etsy using a painting done by her cousin. There were wildflowers, and old black Chevy truck (which is how her dad chauffeured her to the wedding aisle in the front lawn), and perfect light at sunset. Visual heaven, basically. Take a peek:

This was one of my favorite moments at the reception. Callie led a spontaneous dance to the finale song from "Slumdog Millionaire." It turns out they'd all had some practice, since they had led an breakout version of it in the dining hall at Ole Miss before graduation! Very cute.
Some more of Traci's light-mastering magic. Note the shooting star she captured as it goes across the perfect sky:
Traci again, capturing Callie and Cason for the last dance of the evening. So romantic!

bridal portraits: andrea at graylyn estate
Today's the day! I've been waiting months to be able to share these images of Andrea, whose wedding is today. Her luminosity just floors me, and I feel so lucky to get to be part of the day today. Must run, time to start shooting!

What a great way to wake up -- Southern Weddings is featuring the lovely Abigail + Joe vineyard wedding we shot in early May. There are some great details mentioned, so be sure to add their blog to your Google Reader if you haven't already. It's a great resource for all things wedding!
