backyard wedding: angie + selassie
There isn't much that can dampen the spirits of these two, not even a torrential downpour right in the middle of their vows, which forced a mad dash by all into their living room to conclude the ceremony. Their lovely backyard/living room wedding, downpour notwithstanding, was a community and family effort, with everyone pitching in to make the day and night perfect.
Many thanks as always to { Traci Arney }, whose work is featured below, as well as the wonderful { Marissa Kaplan }, who started as an intern five years ago and is now a bonafide shooter in DC.
wedding coordination: { Leigh Pearce Weddings }
reception: { Studio B }
catering: { The Iron Hen }
cake: { Amy's Cakes and Candies }
photobooth chalkboard: { Etsy }

A kind guest approached me moments before the 5:00pm ceremony and showed me the radar on his phone -- "just thought someone should know about this..." he said. By then it was go-time, so we all just had to hope the clouds would hold. (Fat chance, right? Look at that front!) Below is one of the readings, written by Nikki Giovanni.
I love this shot of Traci's -- perfect!
....and by Marissa, another perfect shot -- Selassie seeing Angie come down the aisle.
OK, the rain is beginning in earnest now....
...so the vows are sealed indoors...
...and the crowd cheers them on!
then the rain started again during our "just married" shots in the { Greensboro Arboretum } (notice how drenched Selassie's jacket is!)
now for the reception, with its wonderful details:
{ Studio B } in full swing:
salvaged doors create a great backdrop for displaying family photos:
I love this sign by Perry Adams, who sells this and many other cute signs at her { Etsy shop }:
A great shot by Traci that shows the { The Limelight } in action:
Selassie's dad, who was the evening's cut-up!
Congratulations, Angie and Selassie!!!!!

farm wedding: susannah + paul
Shady oak tree: check. Rolling farmland hills: check. Organic food grown and raised on the land surrounding the reception: check. Totally in-love couple and joyful families: check. All are the perfect ingredients for Susannah and Paul's lovely June wedding at { Goat Lady Dairy }, one of my favorite places in all of central North Carolina. (I shot some { mini-sessions } there last spring.)
A summer thunderstorm blew through just before the ceremony began, turning the umbrellas meant for shade into welcome wedding favors. But the clouds soon parted and the ceremony under the huge oak tree near the main house was perfect. The bride and groom were each escorted down the aisle by both their parents, a lovely tradition, and the programs were handmade, as was their cake, a gift from their pastry-chef cousin. There was dancing under the stars to the awesome { Whiskey Rebellion }, delicious dinner served with Goat Lady Dairy cheese, and a surprise launching of { sky lanterns } that floated above the party. It was all lovely.
Enjoy!

I think everyone should have a photo of their loved one looking at them the way Paul is looking at Susannah here:
The bridal party, looking like the cast of some really cool new show on the CW network. I would totally watch it.
{ Traci } working her magic with the 14mm lens -- helloooo, gorgeous!
Another Traci find -- the tiniest frog known to man -- actual size is that of half a pinto bean.
A mid-summer night's dream. Congratulations, Susannah and Paul!
