Just Because
I'm trying to blog more often (daily is my goal...), so that gives me a good excuse to post this photo of Lila taken last week.
People often ask me if I have just TONS of photos of my children, and in some respects I do (most of them posted here!), but because I am so picky about photos I have very few daily life "snapshots" -- which means that I do miss things sometimes. There is a wonderful book I highly recommend called { How to Photograph Your Baby }, and the author breaks down some really simple things that parents can do to vastly improve the quality of their photos. Even with a little point-and-shoot camera you can get some really great images with just a simple background and natural light. (Be sure to figure out how to turn your flash OFF on your camera).
Anyway, this was not from a planned session by any means -- I had gone to lunch earlier in the day with { Katie } on Tate Street, and wandered into { Design Archives }, a wonderful local vintage clothing store. A perfect pink dress was hanging near the front of the store -- stiff tea-party dress fabric, lots of pleats and little flowers, and the tag said, "Pink Toddler Dress, 1958." How could I resist?
Lila tried it on that evening and wanted to wear it to our neighborhood park (that's my girl!), and I grabbed my camera on the way out the door. I will confess that since Lila NEVER wants to look into my lens -- it is kind of intimidating-looking, I admit -- I asked her to look and see if she could see a bunny inside my camera. Cruel mommy, I know. But it worked! She gave me the best Lila-looking-for-a-bunny look ever:
